My 3 Day Mother’s Day Celebration

A little while back my husband asked me what I would like to have for Mother’s Day. I don’t believe in materialistic gifts on Mother’s Day and suggested a few things I would like to do that weekend. So instead of a Mother’s Day, we turned it into a Mother’s Weekend!

Friday:

A friend of mine offered to baby sit Zoe that evening, which we gladly accepted. I was a little nervous that Zoe would not behave and my friend would regret watching her. I was not nervous about leaving my daughter. I totally trust my friend and knew she would do great with our little one! Plus we stayed close, just in case.

My husband and I went to the Melting Pot and had a fantastic time! We had some wine, amazing food and actually an adult conversation, that did not involve poop.

While out and about Zoe is taking selfies with her babysitter

Saturday:

After a good night sleep I felt rested enough to meet up with my running group. This is the first time, Zoe and I joined them all together. They were nice and adjusted the route stroller friendly and we actually ran with them for 4 miles. A new distance PR for Zoe and me!

We ran into some friends and had a super relaxing morning. When we came home my husband watched Z while I took a bubble bath, the first one in a very long time. It was glorious!! The rest of the day we napped and relaxed.

Sunday:

Last night Zoe slept from 8:30pm until 4am, the longest she ever slept in one stretch! We finally got up at 7am, which is a great time for me. I’m a morning person and even before baby I always got up at 7am. So this works great.

My husband wrote my a wonderful letter, which means the world to me and better than any gift he could have bought. I also got a relaxing pedicure while my husband baby sat again.

wpid-img_20140511_125113_929.jpgThe rest of the day we relaxed and ordered food for dinner. My last “wish” was a little family photo shoot in the backyard to remember my 1st Mother’s Day.

It was such a wonderful weekend! I was able to do everything I really enjoy – date night with my husband, a very personal and romantic letter from him, running with my running group, German food and some me time while taking a bubble bath and getting a pedicure. I could not have asked for a better weekend!

I’m so thankful for the love and support I get from my friends and especially my husband. Being a mom is amazing and I truly enjoy every second. We are blessed with a very relaxed and easy going baby and hope she stays that way for a very long time! I’m so grateful to be able to stay home with Zoe and see her grow up. Just the last 2 months I feel she changed so much and I’m so excited I be there to witness all of that! I’m looking forward to many many more mother’s days!

  3. Love the photos! I should have asked for family photos for Mother’s Day too! I don’t think we took a single one yesterday. Mom fail. :) Happy Mother’s Day!
