January 2013

In December I usually write a review of the year and many times I have a difficult time to remember what really happened, especially early in the year. So I decided to write a monthly post about the ups and downs, not only running related, just life in general.

Highlights:

Not so good:

  • only 3 weekday runs
  • didn’t reach my planned 83 miles. I only ran 56 miles.
  • work continues to be tough (emotionally)
    • got “back stabbed” at work by a co-worker and my boss is not very supportive, which leaves me very frustrated
    • one of my employees was very moody and it affected the whole team, luckily he got himself back together by the end of the month. Let’s hope it stays that way.
    • had an argument with a co-worker I really care about

Travel:

  • Weekend trip with my fiance to Charleston, SC

Races:

Books

  • The Pearl Trilogy (Part 1 and Part 2)

Goal check:

  • Run 13 half marathons in 2013: Great! I ran 2 half marathons this month. 2 down, 11 to go.
  • Run the local race series (finish with more than 940 points): First race is in February
  • enjoy wedding planning (simplify and do not stress): Success!! Once we decided to go to Jamaica and booked out wedding moon, I felt great! Even with the dress, I feel very calm and I feel good! I’m happy and excited and count down the days, but I’m not worried or anxious. I really trust the Sandals people and feel we are in good hands.
  • write a wedding blog and turn it into a boo: Success! Check it out HERE.
  • rent out my condo by the end of the year: Currently the plan is to move to my fiance’s house in June. Once I moved I will look into renting the place.

Right on track with my 2013 goals!

  1. Nice work in January! You are really on track. It sucks that work is getting you down. When you don’t feel that you have the support of your boss, it can really mess with your head. I went through that once too. My advice is to give it time – your boss might support you more than he/she can show right now.

    1. Thanks Amy! The problem is, my boss went to school with my coworker and they know each other well. We will see how it goes.

  2. Thats a lot of things happening in January! Good job on 2 half marathons and wedding-planning. Sorry about all that drama at work. I hope it will get better.

  3. I love this idea of writing about how each month is going. What a great way to keep track at the end of the year. Sorry about work. I know how getting back-stabbed by a co-worker feels! Terrible!! Hope they get some karma (karma’s a B!) and hope everything turns out right. :)

  4. you had a fabulous month!! well, other than work. i hate that it causes you so much trouble- i must admit-i finally found a new job and i couldn’t be happier!! love that you posted your fav pics from the month!

    1. Thanks Elizabeth, I just hope all goes well and my Greencard will be approved soon. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

  5. Sorry about the work troubles. Those can be so stressful to deal with. After you get married will you be able to look for a new job, or do you think you will stay there? Good luck.

Great job on your goals so far. 2 halfs already is pretty remarkable!

    1. Thanks Christy! It will still take a little bit until I get my green card but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

  6. I like your month recap! Awesome month. My January was alright. Definitely ups and downs.

    1. I’m looking into a personal trainer certification. What do you think about ACE and NSCA?

  7. Great start to the new year Christine! My January was kind of blah. I think I have Seasonal Affect Disorder. Too many days without sunshine! It happens every year!

    1. Jill, I totally agree. I have SAD as well, that’s why I keep a list throughout the month of the good things and remind myself, it isn’t that bad. I’m counting days until daylight savings!!
