Marathon Training: Week 17

This week I focused on making sure my body is rested and relaxed. And hopefully to keep my taper madness to a minimum.

Monday:
Rest!

Tuesday:
Rest!

Wednesday:
4 miles in 39:02 (9:45 pace)

I was running during my lunch break and the weather was nice 70′s! The first mile or 2 was great and the last one was a struggle, it felt hard and I had a tough time breathing. I think the breathing is related to humid weather.

Thursday:
4 miles  in 37:05 (9:17 pace)

Felt much better! Less humid that day and I was singing along with my music. Easy quick lunch run – love it!

Friday:
Rest

Saturday:
5k race: 24:57

It was a good race, not perfect, but good. You can read more details about the race HERE.

Sunday:
8 miles in 1:20 (10:00 pace)

Good, easy run today. This was my last “long” run and also my last treadmill run in this training cycle! I have 3 more runs left until Sunday (3miles, 4miles and 2 shake out miles the day before). I’m planning on running during my lunch break. I’m looking forward to have time again in the evening!

Last long run – done and done :)

Total miles:
Planned 21-24 -> Actual: 19

Feeling:

  • Body: Great!
  • Mind: taper starts to play tricks on me, getting nervous and excited, freaking out about the weather, worried I get sick

Comments/Thoughts:
I’m seriously stalking weather.com and so far it doesn’t look good. First it was cloudy and perfect, then it was a 40% chance of rain. Not again!! Last year I ran in rain and the race director said, it wasn’t raining on race day in over 5 years. 2 years in a row with rain? Please no!! On Monday the weather went back to 10% chance of rain. This will be a crazy week, BE WARNED!

5 days until marathon #3!
