My marathon is not even done yet and I already try to figure out what comes next. That happens during taper! Here are my plans for the rest of the year:
September 30: Wineglass Marathon – BIG DAY!
October 21: Atlantic City Half marathon – flat course, will try for a half marathon PR, plus check off NJ from my list
November 11: Marshall University Half Marathon – road trip with my running buddies and check off WV from my list
November 18: Local 10k race – first 10k this year, will try for a PR
December: Local half marathon
But I already start thinking about 2013. I’m not sure if I will run a marathon again, if it will happen, I’m pretty sure it will be a fall marathon. Other than that, I think I will focus on running as many new states as possible and at the same time I hope to meet and run some races with my blogger friends!
And with that I need your help!
- Do you have any races planned for 2013?
- Do you know a good race in a state I haven’t done yet?
- Any “must have” races?
I did the following states: DC,VA,MD,NC,DE,NJ,WV,NY,AR, NH. The race can be any race distance, but they need to have a finisher medal. Ideally flat course and small race (less than 8,000 runners). And not too hot temperatures would be good.

Earlier this year I met Christina from Lace it up and Run at the Little Rock Half Marathon and we had a blast! You can read more about it HERE. I hope to meet more blogging friends in 2013. Let me know!!

You’ll have to come on over to Arizona and run a race here!
Jamie, I would love to!! Which race would you recommend? I still have an empty calendar for 2013!
Christine
Well there’s the Tucson Marathon but that’s always in December. So you’d have to come in 2012 or the end of 2103…
There’s also the Mt. Lemmon Marathon in April. It’s mostly uphill BUT I may be doing it. AND it’s SO worth it! It sounds scary, but it’s really not that bad. I did the half last year. The views are amazing, and you can say you finished one of the worlds toughest marathons. What other race can let you say that?
The Whiskey Row Marathon sounds good too… It’s located in Prescott during May and I may also consider doing it.
Here’s a link to a bunch of AZ marathons: http://www.runningintheusa.com/Race/List.aspx?Rank=All&State=AZ&Special=marathon
I’m definitely doing the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona in January but that one is HUGE. SO. MANY. PEOPLE.
Let me know what you think!
Hi Jamie, Great races, thanks for the link. I was thinking about the Lost Dutchman race. Have you heard about it before? That sounded interesting!
i’m doing the MS blues 1/2 marathon in the beginning of January. awesome medal! then the 3M 1/2 marathon in TX, the publix 1/2 marathon here in atlanta, and the RNR new orleans half again in march.
the oak barrel 1/2 marathon in tennessee is a must in my opinion. loved it last year!
Thank you so much!! This is a great list of races and some of them were on my “to race” list! I hope we can meet up at one or more races next year!!
Oh gosh I haven’t even thought of next year! But I have played around with the idea of doing the Myrtle Beach, SC marathon (maybe this one is in March?? I’d have to look it up again) or maybe doing Spinx in Greenville, SC (falls sometime in October I believe)…I think you would be so much fun to meet up with for a race!
Actually I’m planning on doing the Myrtle Beach one!! I believe it is on February 16. Let’s meet up and run the race together!
Let me know if you ever come west coast for a race (Cali, Arizona, Utah, etc.). It would be fun to run together because I think we both run similar paces and I’d love to meet you in person!
Yes, I let you know. I would love to run a race with you!!! Have you heard about the Lost Dutchman race in A?
