BOOM!! I’m back!!! I had major motivation issues lately and last Tuesday I told myself enough is enough (you can read more about it HERE) and I decided if I don’t want to mess up this marathon, I have to change and actually run and stop whining. I turned it around and finished last week with the most miles I ran in one week EVER!
| Mon | Tue | Wed | Thu | Fri | Sat | Sun | |
| Plan | Rest | 5 m run | 8 m run | 5 m run | Rest | 20 m run | 5 m run |
| Actual | Rest |
5 m run | 8 m run |
3.5 m run | 20 m run |
Rest | 4.5 m run |

Monday:
Rest! This was a terrible day and I finally broke down.
Tuesday:
5 miles in 46:11 (9:15 pace)
My bad headache was almost gone and I went for a run in my neighborhood. I had a good run and was really happy with the pace, the temps were in the 70′s and it felt so good!
Wednesday:
lunch: 3.5 miles @9:40 pace
pm: 4.5 miles @9:33 pace
A double day!! I really want to finish this week strong. I only have 3 tough weeks and then there is taper for the marathon. So I want to make those weeks the best weeks ever! 2 good runs!
Thursday:
3.5 miles (9:33 pace)
Easy run during lunch. On purpose I cut my run short since I had a 20 miler the next day.
Friday:
20 miles in 3:24 (10:14 pace)
LOVED this long run! My friend K planned the route and it was wonderful to just run along and not knowing where we go. It was a surprise route and kept my mind busy. I felt good! The last mile I wanted to finish strong and finished in 9:09. We had amazing weather, cloudy and high 70′s.
Saturday:
Rest
Sunday:
4.5 miles (10:20 pace)
Recovery run totally pain- and sore-free! I was in shock how quick I recovered from Friday’s run. By Friday night I was pain-free and on Saturday I didn’t have tired legs. That was amazing and that really shows me that my body gets used to the distance. So happy!!!
Total miles:
Planned 38-43-> Actual: 41
Feeling:
- Body: really good! No soreness or pain!
- Mind: motivated and great!
Long Run Fuel: 20 miles cloudy and 70′s
The night before: Subway 5 foot sandwich
Before run: apple sauce
During run:
mile 5: 1 sport bean
mile 16: 1 salt stick (arms started to cramp up, felt better and under control)
drink: blue Gatorade 64 oz
-> felt really good!
Comments/Thoughts:
Sooo excited about this week!! First it was my highest mileage week ever and I also felt better than ever before! Watch out Wineglass marathon!!
5 weeks until marathon #3!

So happy to read this Christine! You’re going to rock the Wineglass!
Yay! I’m so happy for you!! I hope my 20 miler goes as well as yours did. I have an 18 this weekend, and it’s been soo hot.
You ate a 5 foot subway?! That’s some serious fueling.
Congratulations on your all-time high mileage week !!! I’m so jealous of you being able to tell that you’ve recovered from the 20 miler. It seems like I always feel good after mine, and have no trouble running after a rest day for the next several days….then I end up with a minor injury or nagging pain that will often last for weeks. Just not giving my old body the chance it needs to recover. It can certainly be a delicate balance.
You are SO going to rick Wineglass…well done !
Congrats on your very successful week and 20 miler! You are going to have a great marathon in a few weeks!
Nice to see your progress! I love the way you plan your marathon training week. All the best for your marathon!

Thanks Noel!
