Bronchitis sucks

Instead of spending Easter weekend outside, looking for eggs and having fun, I was in bed all.weekend.long! Usually I would do anything for a relaxing day, but this is not fun.

It started Friday morning with a headache and my throat hurt and I was tired. I took some vitamins and went to bed early and even meet my running group on Saturday. Instead of a 10 miler, I cut it down to a 6 miler and I didn’t feel too bad. Once I was at home and showered it got bad! My headache was so bad I couldn’t open my eyes and I started coughing and my ears hurt and even my skin hurt. Sunday was even worse and the dry cough was getting so bad that my whole body hurt.Even just touching my skin hurt.

My biggest concern was that I caught something during my trip in Kenya, so I went to the doctor today, just to make sure, it’s just a cold. They took some blood and said, it’s acute bronchitis :( Bronchitis sucks!

I guess that means no running this week! At least I have time to catch up on some blog reading.

Have you had a bronchitis before?
How long did you take off from running?

  1. The chest and coughing can be tough for running. Be sure to rest up and let your body heal well enough before hitting the pavement again. Good luck and get better!

  2. Feel better soon. I tend to be stubborn when I’m sick but go with the just letting my body tell me how long to rest method!

  3. When I had bronchitis I was down for the count for quite a while (1 month +) some of the time wasn’t as bad as others but it lasted a long time for me. I wasn’t necessarily out of running the whole time though Hopefully you’ll be back at it in no time. :)

  4. I had it twice. It was horrible. I can’t even talk without breaking into a cough or feeling breathless. Ugh!
    Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Ugh bronchitis so bites the big one!!!! Take care of yourself!!!

  6. That sounds pretty nasty! Probably smart of you to go to the doctor right away. Hope you feel better REAL soon.
