February in Review

February just flew by, I really can’t believe it’s already March! Wow!! Before I figure out my goals for March, let’s see how February turned out:

Running Goals:

  • Run 1000 miles -> 83.3 miles per month
    -> Fail! I ran 59 miles. With starting to live with my BF and dealing with some stress at work, I had a really tough time to get my weekday runs in. Plus I was sick. I know EXCUSES! But I’m proud I was able to run 13.1 miles in training with a decent time.

  • Run the running club’s race series -> Run the Sweetheart 4 miler on February 12 and improve my time from last year
    -> Success! I ran the race in 35:56, which was 1.5 minutes faster than last year

  • Finish all my monthly 100x challenges -> February: 100 push-ups per week for a total of 400 push-ups
    -> Success! I did 400 push-ups! I’m surprised it wasn’t as difficult as I thought. It only took a few minutes a day. This challenge showed me only a few minutes a day can really help to make me stronger. No ore excuses I don’t have time for strength training!

Personal Goals:

Work:
  • Stop work gossiping
  • smile, listen, breatheand make the best out of each situation
  • be positive and friendly
  • Step back and don’t feel like you areresponsible to solve everything
  • Read 2 self-improvement books
  • Take 5 minutes at the end of each day to reviewmy work day, write the good and bad things down and then say BYE and stop thinking about work.

    -> Major Fail! I was so stressed this month and had this monster headache which is at least partially due to the stress at work. Most of the stress is my own fault and me just not knowing how to deal with it. I had a little break down and hope things will change soon.

Life:

  • Relax and be more mindful (stay in the momentand enjoy, worry less about the past and/or future)
    -> Working on it. This is tough!
  • Think positive and avoid negativity (minimize cursing and gossiping)
    -> Success! Great book!
  • Listen to 1 audio book per month: Finish the audio book “The girl with the dragon tattoo”
    -> Success! Really good book and already downloaded part 2!
  • eat healthier (bring lunch to work, less fast food, don’t replace dinner with chocolate, cook one new meal per week)
    -> Working on it. I try to eat healthier but I didn’t go out of my way to do. I didn’t eat a lot of fast food, but I definitely could have gone healthier.

February was ok, I’m ready for March though. March will be AMAZING!! Right now I sit at the airport waiting to board for my flight to Little Rock, where I will meet Christina from Lace it Up and Run! We will run the half on Sunday. So excited!!

And then in 2 weeks we will go to Kenya to visit one of my best friends. I’m so freaking excited!!!

How was your February? Did you achieve all of your goals?
Any exciting plans for March?

  1. Hopefully March will be a better month, looks like you were quite busy in February, but great job at your race. I totally agree with you on the push-ups, didn't take long at all, but I saw a huge improvement!

  2. Oh my gosh I'm so jealous that you're going to Kenya! You'll have an amazing time! You did pretty good on your goals! Sometimes life gets in the way of high mileage though…I ran 20 mile LESS than I did in January when I'm supposed to be training for a marathon…but being sick for 2 weeks really got in the way of that! Sometimes, life happens but it looks like you're giong to have an amazing March!

  3. Your mileage wasn't too far off, and I agree February was tough (and short). Nice job with the push ups, they were ard for me. I especially loved the 'don't replace dinner with chocolate' note. You're awesome haha. Good luck this weekend!
